Current identity and body

Original Earth life: Daniel Mercer

Thomas's first remembered Earth identity was Daniel Mercer, usually Dan. He died at thirty-two. He grew up in Leicester, England; later lived alone in a small rented flat in Kameido, Kōtō, Tokyo; and worked as a departmental manager for a logistics company near Shin-Kiba. His work involved forecasts, budgets, clients, meetings, approvals, staff problems and the moral frustration of containing systems rather than fixing their causes.

His final clear memory is leaving work late in rain near Shin-Kiba Station: headlights, wet asphalt, an unfinished report on his office computer and perhaps someone shouting his name, though he cannot trust even that final sound. He does not know whether a vehicle struck him, whether he collapsed first or how the anonymous later report of a foreign office worker dying near a Tokyo station relates to him. He and Isha have not contacted any possible bereaved family or former colleague.

Daniel was competent at corporate administration rather than fulfilled by it. He ran meetings, read budgets, handled angry clients, noticed distressed colleagues and lived among quarterly reviews, forecasts, approvals, redundancies and performance indicators. He often managed or contained problems instead of solving their causes, knew how senior specialists turned “small favours” into institutional debt and was more accustomed to avoiding direct confrontation than fantasy-world Thomas later became. His retained institutional habits help current Thomas, but they are also part of why usefulness and stability can feel morally compulsory.

His domestic and technical baseline was ordinary: office towers, trains, supermarkets, vending machines, lifts, traffic signals, cheap meals and mandatory team-building events; broad modern science and technology vocabulary—including oxygen, carbon dioxide and the idea of a narrow cutting light, even when Common lacked easy equivalents—ordinary office systems; and roughly four reliable meals rather than his current exceptional cooking. Daniel's memories supplied context, not embodied practice, romantic courage or automatic knowledge of every current device and procedure.

Daniel's memories have faded unevenly. Thomas remembers offices, trains, cheap meals, Kameido streets, canals near work, a pour-over coffee cone, cicadas, a paper calendar beside his mother's refrigerator and practical repair habits associated with his father. He remembers loving family and friends; some names survive more readily than faces, but actions often remain clearest and names are not always reliably attached to the right person. He also remembers the loneliness of a convenient life that could function without belonging closely enough. He believes both parents were alive when he died and regrets assuming another visit would remain available. Their names and exact occupations are not established.

Thomas explicitly tells Isha that she is his first sexual partner in either life; he was a virgin before her. He cannot honestly confirm or deny whether Daniel dated, kissed someone or had a brief non-sexual romantic relationship. He remembers loving family and friends, not as he loves Isha. Do not convert the bounded uncertainty into either a definite former girlfriend or chosen celibacy.

Thomas rejects the idea that Daniel is his truer name. Mira and Rowan named him Thomas; he grew up again, loved a second family, met Isha and answered to that name for eighteen lived years. Daniel is a real earlier life newly admitted into the relationship, not a name waiting to replace Thomas.

Knowledge, personality and current role

Thomas remains intelligent, thoughtful, curious, quietly stubborn, pragmatic and dryly funny. He values people over systems, sees abilities as tools rather than superiority, listens before judging and becomes difficult to move once he reaches a moral conclusion. Crownholt-era obedience, apology, over-responsibility and usefulness damage survive as possible reflexes, but the Ch.310-322 relationship arc makes plain speech the current expectation rather than a rare crisis.

He is a native English speaker and speaks Japanese well from Daniel's years in Tokyo. He understands modern technology and institutions broadly, but does not automatically know Sendai, current procedures, newer systems or the supplied biography attached to this body. He became Isha's initial translator and guide without becoming her owner or handler. His caretaker instinct now operates through cooking, forms, explanations, household maintenance, attention and small private uses of Cleanse.

Thomas is relieved more than humiliated by being physically ordinary and by Isha's ability to protect him. The old fear of being smaller or unworthy can recur, but it is no longer the active relationship frame. Ch.322 lets him say that he feared plain disagreement would make Isha leave; Ch.324 shows him openly enjoying her sprint and strength without placing himself in the background; Ch.326 lets him receive an evening deliberately centred on him. He may tease, yield or accept being physically overmatched because those are wanted experiences, not disguised admissions of lesser worth.

At the university, Thomas becomes regular administrative staff on 1 June 2027, initially remaining in international support. The change offers a real institutional career rather than permanent ownership of one desk. In Ch.391 he accepts an April 2028 one-year cross-department working group on student-facing guidance and duplicated/contradictory processes: one half-day meeting each month plus bounded review/drafting, with Mori explicitly reducing his existing allocation rather than letting the project become unpaid role creep. Ch.350-354's late-summer arrival pilot is the clearest current work anchor: four distinct milestones—entry into Japan, first university contact, enrolment completion and local address—remain owned by the offices that can actually observe them. Thomas coordinates the pilot and exception review but deliberately refuses to enter another office's correct date merely because forwarding it to him is convenient. By Ch.354 colleagues add their own dates while he is away at regular-staff induction. His success is increasingly a process that works without him, not a widening personal rescue role. Mai's earlier case remains closed through the ¥80,000 grant, ¥40,000 minimum useful loan and bounded research plan.

On 20 February 2028, Thomas makes a one-day Tokyo visit whose primary purpose is seeing Matsuda and eventually asks for bounded professional guidance on Isha's large natural gold/quartz specimen. He shows the documented assay/sale/legal/accounting trail while leaving the acquisition origin sparse. Matsuda does not ask for the supernatural truth; he treats the problem as identifying the right type of independent specialist and offers only to ask a work contact how trusted materials-testing firms are shortlisted and whether any accept private clients. Thomas specifically does not ask Matsuda to route the specimen through a corporate supplier relationship. On 22 February, Matsuda's contact supplies two plausible independent routes; Isha chooses the specimen-focused firm and Matsuda's referral role ends. That route later produces Morishita's 29 March examination and 13 April report without Matsuda becoming a gold specialist or ongoing intermediary.

Thomas's Earth cooking remains exceptional human craft based on palate, timing, material judgement, improvisation and rapid learning. It is not Create Food or professional omniscience. Recent examples include Kanno's birthday cake, winter food after passages and a deliberately difficult ravioli/pear-tart Wednesday in Ch.326. Food may be ambitious, funny, ordinary or imperfect without needing to escalate.

He continues measured gym work and modern archery. His judo wish and later departure remain part of learning that persistence is not morally superior to an honest change of preference. The current four-date pilot and regular-staff career should not quietly turn him back into the only person who can make a system function.

Cleanse reaches Lv.6 in Ch.303. Thomas and Isha know its wider temperature, soothing, drying and limited suspended-soil behaviour; Kanno knows only the bounded broad function. Use spells.md for exact limits.

Thomas discloses Daniel's name in Ch.286 and later visits Kameido/Shin-Kiba with Isha during his twenty-fourth-birthday Tokyo weekend without identifying a former flat or death site. He refuses to choose an uncertain road and call it evidence. Matsuda remains part of the present-day trip and does not learn the truth.

Knowledge, personality and current role

Isha remains competent, warm, patient, observant, disciplined, protective and dryly playful. She reads bodies, routes, threats and concealed intent quickly; loyalty, field judgement and compassion remain hers rather than products of elven biology. Humanity changed her physical category, not her identity.

She retains Common, Elven, fantasy-world memories, archery knowledge, fieldcraft, court experience and the judgement built across Green Road. Her Japanese and English are highly functional after sustained learning; culture, indirect refusal and institutional implication may still require more work than mechanisms.

Isha naturally leads in immediate danger, spatial judgement, movement and physical protection. The Ch.310-322 arc makes the limit explicit: capability is not jurisdiction. Her protectiveness remains shaped by High Elf separation, Crownholt, Thomas's false death, both of her deaths, his final death and the fact that delay once had catastrophic cost. On Earth those habits began acting upon Thomas when no enemy existed. She now asks, listens, apologises specifically and permits ordinary disagreement to remain disagreement. She is not permanently subdued or afraid to act.

The physical diagnosis contributes only a minority of the explanation. Hyperthyroidism shortened patience, raised activation and made stillness harder, but it did not choose her conduct. The medication and System correction quiet the body; the relationship repair comes from conscious behaviour. Current Isha may still occasionally answer for Thomas, correct him or take an obvious small task, just as he may do the same. A scene should distinguish ordinary couple familiarity from renewed control through consequence and response rather than treating every minor shortcut as a crisis.

At the climbing centre, Isha is now an indefinite short-hours regular employee with a guaranteed three shifts / twenty-four prescribed hours each week and greater instruction/safety responsibility. Extra work is not allowed to erase the chosen three-day structure. Ch.380-393 develops a Sport Climbing Coach 1 route: Isha is interested specifically in becoming better at teaching bodies/movements unlike her own, provisionally puts her name forward, and receives written employer terms. Formal fee/materials and required travel are covered; required attendance is paid and rostered inside the guaranteed week; optional personal study is unpaid; wider coaching eligibility may follow; external competitions/events require separate agreement; no automatic base-pay rise is promised, but Ishikawa will request a role review once expanded coaching duties are demonstrably real. The course is completed on 22-23 April 2028. Ch.436 places her first post-course forty-five-minute beginner block inside an existing Wednesday shift with Yoshida nearby as floor coverage; Isha owns the session, accepts that the two visitors may or may not return and chooses another block the following week. Ch.440 shows the qualification settling into ordinary work rather than title escalation. She handles equipment, customer-defined success and safety while remaining a climbing-centre employee rather than medical staff. Her employer supports formal training: by 1 August she has completed Japanese Red Cross basic life support and the full First Aid Provider course, learning local emergency sequence, AED/CPR, bleeding, bandaging, immobilisation, casualty movement and when to leave a person where found. Her retained field experience assists judgement but does not override Earth first-aid scope. Ch.323's return to climbing remains the movement baseline: exceptional, controlled and recreational rather than celebrity/competition obligation.

Isha's first regulated novice MMA bout remains the Ch.296 win over Morita Ayaka by second-round rear choke. Her second bout is now also complete: on 11 December 2027 she faces Naruse Kana, whose cleaner boxing and movement clearly win round one; Isha adapts and makes round two close, but the officials award Naruse the two-round decision. Shibata's Monday review confirms the first-round/close-second-round shape and leaves the decision intact. Both women stand afterward; Isha has only ordinary bruising/small cuts. Morita and Naruse are respected opponents, not recurring rivals, and no third bout is promised.

Kyūdō begins under Fujisaki Tomoko in Ch.305. Old archery experience accelerates bow safety, aim and movement learning, including early work at twenty-eight metres, but kyūdō's eight stages, timing, group line and formal continuity remain new. By Ch.320 she can shoot a full medically permitted session with seven hits from eight arrows; accuracy must not erase the long road to mastery.

Her strength, sprinting and climbing now feel cleaner after remission because sleep, regulation and fine control are restored. Ch.324 is the current measurement anchor and should not trigger another rapid sequence of tests. Hasegawa supports occasional sprinting without making Isha a sprinter; strength work supports other practices rather than becoming another record ladder.

Isha's Tanabata wish continues through origami, drawing, glass and now paper hanging. Thomas's twenty-fifth-birthday gift to her is Fold No. 6, a clear abstract loop with green and amber threads on a dark wooden cradle, deliberately without practical use. In August she makes a first crooked hanging from coloured paper loops and begins a second with cream, green, smoky blue and pale grey pieces. Thomas may supply tools or requested technique but does not improve the object for her. The creative thread is specifically allowed to remain useless, imperfect and unfinished.

Kanno remains Isha's closest independent Earth friend. Their relationship includes clothing, work, proofs, private humour, ordinary outings, medical anger and disagreement. Isha does not make Kanno a monitor or substitute for Thomas. Kanno's booklet and New Year stay give the friendship subject matter not organised around disclosure.

Isha's weekly life now contains deliberately different kinds of days: some chiefly hers, some shared, some separate and a flexible Wednesday that may lean toward Thomas by choice. This is reciprocal support, not service or an inviolable schedule.

Families and continuity

Thomas and Isha

Thomas and Isha are an established, exclusive romantic and sexual couple whose relationship was chosen and lived in the fantasy world. Their current-Earth records describe a university relationship and cohabitation, but those records neither create nor validate the bond. Thomas proposed on 29 May 2027; they became legally married on 15 October and held their chosen wedding ceremony on 30 October 2027. Earth marriage adds a legal/public family choice to an already real partnership rather than completing or validating it.

The active state is post-argument and repaired. Ch.310-313 contains their first substantial conflict generated inside the relationship rather than imposed by danger or institutions. Isha had begun answering for Thomas, correcting ordinary preferences and treating her superior capability or judgement as permission to decide before he finished. Thomas enjoyed yielding to her in private, then used that genuine desire, jokes and quick compliance to hide that he no longer wanted the same posture governing lamps, food, speech or household choices. The lamp/cable dispute exposed the accumulated pattern.

The causes remain durable and may recur under stress:

The repair is equally canonical. They seek ordinary medical care, acknowledge their unusual history, identify how survival roles became maladaptive in a safe home, apologise for specific acts and practise direct speech. Isha's Ch.315 invitation for Thomas to lead while she kneels loosely bound is a consensual trust experiment, not repayment or permanent reversal. Ch.322 lets Thomas say that he feared speaking would make her leave; both confirm they are happier. Later chapters demonstrate the result rather than repeatedly relitigating it.

Current relationship behaviour:

Routine affection is familiar rather than bureaucratic. They do not need repeated explicit checks before ordinary kissing, holding, sleeping, dressing or touch. They do check when pain, medical uncertainty, new sexual/dominance play, public exposure or a meaningful loss of control makes the boundary real.

Isha's medical remission helps her feel physically and mentally quieter, but it does not erase personality or history. The disease/System arc is closed: she is well, off medication and monitored. A future disagreement should arise from present choices or recognised old drivers, not from resetting her to pre-argument controlling behaviour or secretly recurring hyperthyroidism.

Children remain plausible because both are human, but no decision, timetable or promise exists. Ian explicitly used children only as an example of a future discussion he might steer them toward while promising not to choose the answer. That external comment is not a plan or preference belonging to Thomas or Isha.

Current marriage/wedding state: completed. Kanno signs the marriage notification in 202 and Matsuda signs the second witness box during the couple's 13 October Tokyo trip for separate British marital-status affirmations. Sendai accepts the notification on 15 October 2027, leaving their names Thomas Albrecht and Isha Vaeloren in the written record. They deliberately continue to call 30 October their wedding day. The ceremony uses the small west/central-Sendai restaurant private room with courtyard, easy taxi/level access and one long table. Seven guests attend: Kanno, Matsuda, Saitō, Miyake, Mori, Sugiyama and Ishikawa. The restaurant manager only keeps the requested sequence; Isha speaks first, Thomas second, and both vows remain publicly intelligible without Green Road, magic, Daniel, Ian or correspondence disclosure. They exchange engraved platinum bands—narrow polished for Isha, broader brushed for Thomas, 30.10.2027 inside both—then eat together. Nagai is the paid photographer; Kanno remains a guest. Isha's ivory square-necked floor-length dress and Thomas's dark-navy suit/soft-white shirt/deep-green tie are now direct prose canon rather than concealed pre-wedding choices. The wedding day remains emotionally theirs despite the earlier legal date.

Ch.369-370 gives the marriage an immediate ordinary continuation. The day after the wedding they breakfast with Matsuda and Kanno, read the seven cards and receive Nagai's eighteen-frame preview. They choose a one-night honeymoon by returning to Miyato Island / Oku-Matsushima on 6-7 November, staying at the same minshuku and, when available, the same room. They revisit Tsukihama, take a shorter autumn route through Satohama/Hatsutsuura to Otakamori and make a second summit photograph beside the earlier summer one without trying to reproduce the first trip.

The Ian encounter does not alter the romantic centre. Isha explicitly tells Ian she will not return his crush and treats his attraction as ordinary only because he makes no entitlement claim. She conditionally permits him to remain part of her life from afar, with boundaries, but cannot grant Thomas's or anyone else's consent. Thomas's response is neither jealousy nor permission on Isha's behalf.

Their current home is flat 202. It has hosted friends, Kanno's overnight stays, letter preparation, disclosure, medical recovery, Cleanse testing, the gallery gift and ordinary intimacy while preserving Thomas's office and the flexible room as bounded spaces. The earlier Ian-linked objects remain under deliberately ordinary rules: Thomas's childhood bird is visible on a shelf; Isha's dark-green ribbon stays with her ring case; Sereth's wooden bowl remains in kitchen use; and Tessa's ash-marked arrow is protected horizontally in its long storage box in the flexible room. Ch.366 confirms that Tessa's fantasy-side original vanished from its wrapping and that a printed Common note claiming to have sent it to Isha was left behind. Later external material is deliberately catalogued separately from the Hero-System correspondence: the first fantasy-side chosen album/media received after Ch.372, Thomas's family's exact-copy album and selected still/moving/spoken records accepted in Ch.377, Isha's Christmas miniature-world pendant, Thomas's in-story historical marriage_arc.md printout (not an available repository source), and the private four-person chat/evidence record. Use earth.md and knowledge_boundaries.md for storage, provenance, sharing and mechanism details; none of these objects/media expands the monthly page payload.

Other Earth Major Characters

Kanno Emi

Kanno is a university-era contact who becomes a present-day friend through choices made after the accident. Her canonised birthday is 17 April; her exact age and birth year remain unestablished. Conflicting later date-check reminders are non-canonical. She works for a regional publishing supplier, handling proofs, layouts, client changes, print limitations and the recurring abuse of the word final. She returned to Sendai after a year in Tokyo because the impressive life cost too much sleep and choice. Her home and workplace address remain unestablished.

Her manner is dry, precise and visually observant. She notices wording, posture, fabric, document structure and the place where an answer stops. She can be blunt without being cruel and practical without pretending emotion has become a production problem. Her plum coat, black work bag and professional frustration remain present-life texture rather than accessories to Isha.

Kanno is independently close to both leads. With Isha she shares clothes, work, creative uncertainty and private humour. With Thomas she shares publishing complaints, food criticism, book markets, photographs and a tolerance for precise omissions that has limits. She attends Isha's February sprint because she wants to see the ability behind the number, not as monitor or coach.

Her first student zine, After the Rooms Empty, is a technically flawed but emotionally real early work she recovers on an unreachable Saturday. It seeds Until Replaced, a roughly B6, twenty-four-page study of temporary signs, taped instructions, improvised repairs and objects that continue working after official systems fail. Thomas and Isha's proof comments help restore fingerprints and human use that technical cleanup had begun to erase. By summer 2027 Kanno has committed to a forty-copy first run and public sale. She takes twelve copies to the 24 July small-press table; later orders mean more copies sell after the event than during it. At least one stranger buyer writes back about the retraced arrow/page-nine image and preserved fingerprints, and Kanno replies. She is considering “another thing” without committing to a sequel or professional identity change. By Ch.363 the work has become a growing set of photographs of ordinary walls and surfaces carrying traces of removed signs, boards, fixtures, adhesive, paint and repair. She rejects images that make absence too obvious and does not yet know whether the work should become a booklet at all. On 31 October she says she has forty-three wall photographs to arrange; by 26 December the working set has reached forty-five, still without a fixed final form.

Kanno knows the bounded other-world truth established in Ch.282-288, current Cleanse in broad form and the existence of correspondence. By Ch.319 she knows the first exact System health message and the couple's cautious interpretation; in spring 2027 she witnesses exactly one protected passage without becoming staff for later openings. Ch.355 makes her a direct witness to Ian's third ordinary-world encounter. Ch.358 gives her the full final-train account, original senderless Ian message, external photographs, Tessa's arrow/Thomas's bird/Isha's ribbon/Sereth's bowl and Thomas's observed / claimed record. She also sees the 16 August geographic-anomaly entry and thirty-cycle record. Ch.365 makes her one of the two ordinary legal witnesses on the marriage notification; Ch.368 keeps her deliberately a wedding guest rather than photographer. By Ch.367 she has also been told the bounded arrow outcome and the 18 October senderless response. She still does not receive the activation wording/procedure, automatic access to every page or a continuing passage role.

Ch.374 gives Kanno selected access to the fantasy-side marriage gift: she sees the still images Thomas/Isha choose to show and repeatedly watches Porridge's moving recording, but does not gain automatic ownership of the archive. Ch.378 then brings her into the neutral-café logistics as the Earth-side anchor; after Thomas/Isha return they tell her about the ending plan, hospital prompts, planet-scale demonstration and consent decision not to descend/listen near Larchmeet. She accepts an invitation into the nameless four-person chat with existing permissions unchanged.

Ch.385 makes Kanno's Ian relationship directly her own. She meets him alone under explicit conditions, learns the machine-generated option structure, experiences the die demonstration, and stops a Berlin trip when Ian moves her passport/camera without asking. After he restores the camera and asks properly, she explicitly permits the relevant belongings, travels with him to real Berlin for about thirty minutes, photographs ordinary Wall traces under ordinary light/people/weather and returns safely. Ian also tells her ordinary external-life facts—new IT job, house, failed Computer Science degree, bad back/exercises and recent anime obsession. He says he keeps no secrets from Thomas/Isha, but Kanno still declines to inventory a private conversation for them; she tells them the shared-relevance parts and keeps some personal disclosures/questions hers. Her own summary is that she and Ian are not friends yet, but could be, and she wants to talk with him again.

Ch.394 gives Kanno her first genuinely extraterrestrial photographic work. Ian asks before even proposing the opportunity; Kanno chooses to photograph the actual Venera 14 site on Venus only after specifying no site alteration/improvement, no lasting human trace, safe perception of the real environment, her own unchanged camera and Ian's presence. She makes twenty-seven frames of her own; Ian, with her consent, makes three photographs of Kanno using her camera, and she marks the third—turned toward the lander—as the strongest. She says the trip was more than okay, would do something like it again one at a time and only when she wants the next one, and returns through a door into 202 while Ian stays beyond the threshold. Later she accepts one separately requested surprise file: a 100MP impossible image of the visible universe from an external vantage, which she keeps under separate Ian provenance. Ch.395 adds a machine-generated approximation of Kanno beside Venera 14; she treats it as reconstruction and stores/prints it separately from the photographs her camera actually made on Venus.

Ch.396 brings Miyake's private repair practice into Kanno's current work. Kanno asks about removable photographs, album/box structures and visible repair while declining to invent a false origin for the Venus images. Miyake does not see or learn the Venus subject. Kanno asks to see Miyake's repaired/ordinary albums later and is particularly interested in what Miyake chooses to leave visible. No Venus publication, album or wall-series incorporation is decided.

Ch.389 gives Kanno her first recognition by a stranger who bought Until Replaced and began noticing analogous community-centre repairs. Ch.392 gives her a 25 March 2028 Small Works Weekend invitation; she accepts on the condition that Until Replaced and existing work are sufficient and her unfinished wall series is not forced into exhibition. She catches herself planning an Aelira portrait before the person has consented and explicitly corrects the impulse. Ch.392 controls the earlier state; Ch.438 later records Aelira's first directly consented portrait session.

She watches the fantasy anime The Mage Who Only Wanted a Map with Thomas and Isha across Ch.318-322. Its map-obsessed mage Alto, aggressively devoted elf Lysenne and ore-obsessed dwarf Dorra provide comedy and a later honest treatment of avoidance, unreturned love and independent roads. Kanno's frequent giggling is character texture, not a permanent comic function.

Kanno stays in 202 for New Year after previously staying following Matsuda's departure and the Daniel/Revive disclosure. These visits do not make her a cohabiting partner. She remains platonic, keeps the secret from Matsuda and has no operational obligation to the couple.

Her Tanabata wish—one Saturday each month when no client can reach her—continues through actual boundary-setting and creative work. Future chapters should preserve needs, mistakes and choices not organised solely around Thomas and Isha.

Ch.397-440 extends Kanno's independent lines without making her an operator for anyone else. On 27 February she joins Thomas, Isha and Ian for the first real Olympus Mons survey, photographs Isha's self-directed flight and Thomas/Isha flying together, and later stores the Mars camera files under their actual provenance while marking the frames Ian made with her camera separately. She completes the 25 March Small Works event with Until Replaced, takes part in the optional maker conversation and keeps the wall series unresolved. On 2 April she meets Lethira alone, without camera or fresh briefing, gives her a copy of Until Replaced and later tells Thomas/Isha only the broad parts she chooses. On 16 April she uses the Mercury ticket alone, adapts to reduced gravity/light and returns with 41 frames. On 19 April she asks Ian to approach Aelira; only after Aelira independently agrees and the neutral route is enabled does Kanno enter. The 19 April meeting goes well and Aelira permits Kanno to bring a camera next time without yet consenting to photography. On 24 April Kanno joins Isha, Aelira and Lethira in a social neutral afternoon and refuses to become a reporting conduit. On 27 April, after a new request and route, Aelira gives direct bounded consent to photography. Kanno returns with six approved Aelira portraits, one image authorised for Thomas/Isha, one Aelira-made photograph of Kanno, one private shared timer frame and Aelira's deliberately bad chair photograph. On 28 April Kanno makes the requested physical formal print and stores it without using the finished object to create another meeting.

Saitō Fumiko

Older woman living alone in 203 who uses a cane outdoors and sometimes treats its indoor use as negotiable. Her husband died six years before Ch.228; she formerly cooked for him and two children, whose current lives remain unestablished. Saitō is sharp, socially observant, teasing and practical rather than sentimentally maternal. During the outage she helps turn neighbours into a functioning community and identifies Thomas's enjoyment of cooking before he fully admits it. She watches usefulness and welcome closely: her Ch.229 birthday-card line to Thomas is that being useful is not the fee for being welcome. From Ch.233 onward she becomes Thomas's principal cooking mentor: she recognises his unusual palate and learning speed, insists upon failure and correction, and warns that anticipating one person's needs can become another form of self-erasure. She supports Thomas and Isha's move while respecting Yoshimura's procedural limits, critiques Thomas's food without false modesty and helps on moving day by feeding people and reorganising the new kitchen. In Ch.242 she says Thomas has passed what her hands can demonstrate while explicitly retaining the right to criticise taste, waste, display and emotional over-decoration; this shifts her from technical instructor to trusted critic rather than ending the relationship. During the Ch.244 year-end cleaning she accepts a self-appointed supervisory role and continues noticing when Thomas stops trying to earn welcome through excessive work. She knows only the ordinary accident/recovery account and has no knowledge of magic or Green Road. In Ch.356 Thomas and Isha ask her in person to attend their small wedding; she accepts, asks for easy seating and no necessary stairs, and suggests that a separate later building meal can coexist with a small ceremony. The chosen restaurant route satisfies those constraints. Saitō attends the 30 October 2027 ceremony, seated close to the couple, with taxi/level access and no required courtyard step.

Ch.395-396 gives Saitō an independent older-woman relationship with Isha. She recruits Isha to move an old heavy cabinet in 203 after removing its drawers, is openly amused/irritated by how easily Isha can do work that once took Saitō and her husband together, and then brings out an old album. The photographs establish Saitō as a striking young woman with carefully styled hair, ordinary physical strength that changed through carrying children/household work, and a history of complicated feelings about weight and being looked at. She says she once enjoyed attention, later enjoyed being left alone, and later could resent that people had complied; age did not make her feelings consistent. Marriage felt ordinary enough that the word husband eventually disappeared into life, then became conspicuous again on forms after his death. She and Isha can discuss beauty, attention, marriage and ageing through lived experience, but Saitō is not an oracle or a substitute parent.

Mugi

Female tortoiseshell community cat with a clipped ear, supported by a neighbourhood volunteer network and belonging to no household. The woman behind the hardware shop feeds her in the morning and two other households provide shelter; Thomas and Isha provide water, occasional shelter and chosen attention without making her their pet. She uses exterior stairs, service ledges and balcony-divider gaps, and has an unusually strong choice-respecting bond with Isha. She can sometimes retrieve specifically described objects without pointing, including the Akiyama boy's cloth mouse and Thomas's blue cleaning cloth, but the mechanism remains ambiguous: exceptional observation/intelligence, relationship, continuity echo or weak residue are all possible. Isha never uses food or affection as payment, accepts refusal and rejects treating Mugi as evidence, familiar or property. After the Ch.238 move Mugi inspects the new flat, chooses the flexible room for her first rest and revises her route without becoming their pet; in Ch.240-241 she is deliberately described as a community cat rather than a familiar, and continues treating the flexible room/guest mattress as a chosen resting place. Ch.242 adds an improbable radio-dance sequence in which she mirrors Isha's steps, paw lifts, turns and ending posture; Thomas's familiar suggestion remains a joke/speculation, not a finding. Ch.388 adds the strongest language-like event so far: while Thomas tells Isha in Common that his missing finger sling is under the green notebook in the closed top desk drawer, Mugi walks into the unseen office, taps the correct closed drawer and noses the correct notebook after Thomas opens it. No request/gesture was directed at her and Isha refuses a repeat test. Record it as an observation, not proof that Mugi understands Common. In Ch.253 she appears during the ordinary-meal/photo work and sits through Thomas's improvised glyph-font experiment. The small printed portrait sent in Ch.259 describes her accurately as a light adult tortoiseshell with greenish eyes, clipped ear, several supporting households and selective obedience; the image is explicitly non-magical and contains no part of her. Her role is relational and thematic, not a delivery mechanism, spell carrier or convenient supernatural detector.

Matsuda, employers, coaches, club contacts and medical staff remain supporting cast in minor_characters.md unless later prose promotes them. Kanno is already promoted above.

Current Fantasy-Side Major Characters

The following characters are active in post-Ch.214 direct fantasy-side prose. Their current state belongs here rather than under Earth major characters; historical fantasy reference below remains background evidence.

Lethira Dawnleaf

Core identity and role

Lethira Dawnleaf is a Wood Elf warden, royal attendant/messenger serving First Princess Aelira Caelithen, and one of Isha's longstanding close friends. Her court role and warden role overlap without defining her entirely: she carries royal messages, understands court/security work, has served in dangerous field operations, and is trusted with sensitive information and independent judgement.

She is an exceptionally experienced combatant. Thomas's Status testing shows a large health reserve, exceptionally large mana reserve, A-rank combat indication, and no formal magical rank. Lethira describes herself as a warden, not a mage; like other Wood Elves, she learned mana awareness as part of life rather than as a separate profession. She has fought corrupted beasts for more than a century. Her exact chronological age remains deliberately unestablished, as does normal/maximal elven lifespan.

Lethira has extensive experience with humans through travel, Guild work, trade, courts and human settlements. She knows the difficult human–Wood Elf history personally as living cultural history, but whether she personally fought humans in the old wars remains unestablished. She tends to judge individual humans by their conduct rather than adopting Ruvan's more general distrust.

Ch.422 confirms that her old human-Guild registration is formally B-rank. This is a career/judgement grade earned through long field history, not Thomas's separate A-rank-like Status combat indication and not a magical rank. In Ch.423 Merrowford issues a new current B tag while limiting local contract acceptance to C-rank and below until an optional senior field assessment confirms present B-level practice. In Ch.439 Lethira chooses the assessment, leads a C-rank greyback contract under Garran Holt, accepts one communication correction and passes. The local restriction is removed; the B-rank itself was confirmed rather than newly earned.

Physical appearance

Lethira's strength is deliberately deceptive by human visual standards. Elven physiology does not require the same visible muscular bulk humans normally associate with high strength. In Ch.410 she can intercept Ian's hand almost instantaneously, immobilise his hand/wrist with relaxed control, and pin him without visible strain. She explicitly describes herself as stronger than Ian, and Ian directly notices how unexpectedly firm/strong she feels beneath a comparatively lean physique. Her exact strength is not numerically measured. Her strength relative to Earth-Isha remains deliberately open, preserving the possibility that Lethira substantially exceeds even Isha's exceptional human strength.

Clothing and visual presentation

Lethira normally dresses for movement and practical use. Established clothing includes dark travelling leathers and later green-brown forest/travel layers, close enough to the body not to catch on vegetation while allowing full movement. Indoors she commonly removes heavier outer layers but does not change into ceremonial or deliberately decorative clothing merely because she is off duty.

Her common field silhouette includes a longbow, belt knives and practical travel equipment; she also uses a messenger satchel and specialised royal/warden message tools when relevant. In her own room the bow rests separately rather than remaining attached to her. When walking casually through the settlement in Ch.410 she leaves the bow behind, adds only a light outer layer and practical boots, and treats her home as sufficiently safe not to travel armed by default.

For image generation, default to a six-foot mature Wood-Elf ranger/warden with ash-brown tied-back hair, long ears with silver cuffs, practical green/brown or dark-leather woodland clothing, a lean shapely athletic build and relaxed physical confidence. Avoid hyper-muscular anatomy, ornate princess clothing, exaggerated sexual armour, tiny pointed human-style ears, or making her visually interchangeable with Isha.

Personality

Lethira is observant, sociable, mischievous, confident, emotionally perceptive, gossip-receptive and unusually open by the standards of the more restrained Wood Elves around her. She enjoys embarrassment when it is harmless, notices romantic tension quickly, and is comfortable teasing people she likes. She accidentally interrupted Thomas and Isha's first likely kiss, rapidly understood what she had interrupted, later claimed victory in the associated betting pool, and has never lost her interest in making their composure difficult.

Her humour should not erase her experience. She has spent more than a century dealing with corrupted creatures, dangerous roads, court responsibilities, old prejudice and people making poor decisions in dangerous circumstances. When a situation becomes genuinely threatening or emotionally important, the levity can disappear immediately and reveal an extremely experienced warden beneath it.

Lethira is more personally candid than Aelira and many older Wood Elves, including about attraction and relationships, but she is not indiscreet. She understands the difference between entertaining gossip, private confidence, duty information and something another person has entrusted to her. She can preserve secrets while still being delighted by everyone else's curiosity.

She is physically affectionate when she chooses to be and treats consent directly rather than ceremonially: ask, receive an answer, respect it. Her humour can remain present during intimate situations without making the consent itself ambiguous.

Voice and intimacy

Lethira's increasing trust in Ian gives him greater access to feelings, uncertainty, private humour, need and vulnerability; it does not make her more verbally analytical or turn her into the relationship's interpreter. She often understands more than she says. She may answer with a look, touch, short statement, practical action or silence rather than explaining the emotional meaning.

Her humour is usually prompted by something she has concretely noticed—behaviour, fieldcraft, social tension, physical disparity, human habits, professional absurdity—not by a need to produce a witty counter to every line. She can sustain stronger repartee with Aelira because of their very long friendship, but Ian/Lethira intimacy should not default to continuous verbal fencing.

Lethira remains independently directed. In scenes with Ian she should still notice things first, form opinions, initiate subjects/actions, pursue her own work and sometimes leave his jokes unanswered. Increased intimacy reveals more of Lethira; it does not make her a more conveniently communicative version of herself.

When emotionally exposed, she may become less polished, not more. Avoid giving her modern therapeutic formulations merely because she is emotionally perceptive.

Aelira

Lethira's relationship with Aelira Caelithen is both professional and deeply personal. She is one of Aelira's attendants/people and respects the First Princess's authority where that authority actually applies, but privately they are longstanding close female friends who have known one another too long to maintain court formality when it serves no purpose.

They tease one another, understand each other's habits, can move quickly between royal/security business and personal conversation, and trust one another with emotionally important matters. In Ch.410, after Aelira establishes that Ian's future visits and proposed travel create no unconsented political/security involvement, the princess/warden frame deliberately falls away. Lethira openly tells Aelira that her evening with Ian was a date, that she likes him, that they kissed more than once, that Ian enjoys her being stronger than him, and that they intend another date. Aelira responds as a close friend, including asking whether Lethira trusts Ian and telling her she is glad Lethira is happy.

Lethira still keeps some things private even from Aelira. In particular, Aelira does not know about the hidden anime tablet, and Lethira deliberately withholds more intimate details of her time with Ian. Their closeness does not erase privacy.

In Ch.418 Lethira tells Aelira in person that she and Ian are leaving immediately for Merrowford by ordinary road. Aelira sees the travelling pack/bow and Ian's Earth clothing, accepts the open-ended private journey and tells Lethira to write if it becomes weeks. Ian gives Aelira a small stack of blank gold-edged sheets for serious need: a signed message can appear with Ian/Lethira. This does not give Aelira later knowledge of their camp, bath, power discussion, Guild contract or other private Merrowford events unless Lethira chooses to tell her.

Isha and Thomas

Lethira is one of Isha's old friends and belongs within Isha's intimate fantasy-side circle rather than being merely a royal colleague. She knows Isha deeply, notices changes in her quickly, and has long been comfortable teasing her. She likes Thomas and recognised early that his presence changed Isha's life. Her amusement around their romance coexists with real loyalty and concern.

Lethira participated voluntarily in the Ch.406 reunion arrangements and reunion itself. Details of the private reunion remain private unless Lethira, Thomas or Isha later chooses to disclose them.

Ian

Lethira and Ian Kirk are an established exclusive adult couple and lovers. They are equal joint owners of the western Merrowford freeholding after Ch.437. For Ian's realistic physical baseline, projected-body physiology and clothing, load ian.md conditionally; relationship state remains owned here.

Their earlier dates and Ch.418-423 road journey establish attraction, shared travel, nudity, negotiated strength/restraint, Ian's unlimited-power disclosure and the permanent Ch.421 non-alteration rule. Ch.425-429 adds mutual love, explicit togetherness, exclusivity, first intercourse and a joint property offer. Ch.433-439 turns those declarations into ordinary shared life:

The Ch.421 non-alteration constraint remains absolute. Ian may not directly or indirectly alter Lethira's memory, mind, personality, identity, thoughts, desires, values, emotional disposition, agency or past, or engineer circumstances for the purpose of manufacturing her love, trust, forgiveness, attraction, agreement, loyalty, fear or dependence. Ch.432's failed thought-placement remains the demonstrated refusal. Later love, sex, home ownership and chosen dominance do not weaken the boundary.

Lethira knows Ian's full name, realistic projected appearance, ordinary external home photographs, sensory asymmetry and unlimited-power claim. Ch.435 adds a voluntary perception of Ian's external-scale authority and finite biological self: after the Lifegiver sees it by Ian's permission, Ian later permits Lethira and Aelira to see the same broad truth under protection. This does not make either Elf omniscient about the machine or give them access to Ian's private external life.

Lethira continues to hold gold-edged missive paper and can contact Ian first. Ian's power and presence create no standing access to her body, belongings, memories, choices, house, room or location. Home ownership gives him an ordinary co-owner's relationship to the western holding, not metaphysical ownership of Lethira or her other homes.

Current personal preferences / small continuity

Lethira likes small streams and has a favoured path through the settlement near an inner stream. She also has an open rocky shelf near the ward line where the canopy gives a clear view of the moon; she has historically gone there when she wanted the settlement close enough to return to but far enough away not to be asked anything.

She is interested in the Great Peak, its dwarven roads/halls and the places beneath it, partly from older traveller accounts and partly from Isha's experience there. The desire predates Ian's offer.

She is interested in Earth fiction not merely for novelty but because humans invented elves, long-lived peoples, forbidden forests and human–elf conflicts without knowingly having contact with her world. She finds the resemblance genuinely interesting while remaining entirely capable of reducing the discussion to complaints about fictional elf footwear when she has had enough history for one evening.

Ch.421-423 add smaller present preferences: she strongly enjoys a proper hot bath after travel, likes the Reed and Wheel's river fish and is reluctantly impressed by the feel of Ian's machine-assisted modern-style fabric softener while continuing to value locally made cloth and ordinary material labour. She also enjoys Merrowford's river paths and the fact that a remembered town has continued changing without waiting for her. These are preferences, not obligations or a new shopping/bath progression system.

Historical continuity

Before the current Ian relationship, Lethira's durable fantasy-era role already included serving Aelira, being Isha's friend, interrupting Thomas/Isha's first likely kiss, noticing their romance early and claiming the associated betting-pool victory. In Merrowford she consented to Status testing; her exceptionally large mana reserve despite not being a formal mage helped establish the elf/human difference in what counts as magehood. She witnesses enough of the pilgrim-bridge aftermath to know that Isha's restoration crossed unprecedented territory, while not receiving every restricted detail.

Ch.412-440 current relationships, Guild and location

Kanno/Lethira and Kanno/Aelira remain independent one-to-one relationships. Ch.433 brings Isha, Kanno, Aelira and Lethira together for one completed social neutral afternoon based on Golden Acre Park. The meeting creates no standing route or reporting duty. Kanno and Lethira both retain private Ian material; Aelira and Lethira retain their own friendship confidences.

Ian/Lethira's open-ended road journey has become a local household strand near Merrowford. They own the western freeholding equally after the Ch.437 deed/payment/registry completion. The roof, chimney, mortar, sill, old outbuilding/bathhouse filing and drainage remain unresolved ordinary work. Temporary furniture and kitchen equipment are movable external creations intended for replacement through normal shopping.

Lethira is a current unrestricted B-rank Guild adventurer/warden in Merrowford after passing Garran Holt's Ch.439 senior field assessment. Ian remains an unranked aide, not E-rank, and receives no independent completion or rank credit. Lethira carries the new B tag with the updated branch seal; the old worn tag was returned to its former place in Ch.425.

In Ch.437 Lethira gives Caswick notice that they will surrender the Reed and Wheel room early once the awkward remainder of their belongings has been collected; they do not check out then. In Ch.439 the still-paid room remains theirs, Ian moves the remaining belongings to the house and they use the room once more. Their later formal checkout is not shown; the owned house is their durable current home.

Continuity boundaries

Post-Ch.214 Fantasy-Side Cross-Reality State

Ch.371 onward includes direct fantasy-world scenes and therefore creates current fantasy-side continuity beyond the historical Ch.214 endpoint through Ch.440. This section records only the later state needed for continuity; the detailed former-world body/magic/history below remains historical.

Lean, healthier than he looks, average height, dark hair, grey-blue eyes, narrow face, fair complexion, practical repeatedly repaired travel clothes. No heroic/noble/legendary appearance; underestimated physically. Adults often forget his age because he speaks with unusual patience/perspective/restraint. Chapter 215 retrospectively confirms that his Earth face preserves these fantasy-world features aged into early adulthood.

Personality: intelligent, thoughtful, curious, quietly stubborn, dryly funny, pragmatic, not glory/power/fame/destiny driven. Sees abilities as tools, not superiority. Curiosity draws him toward ancient/forbidden/dangerous mysteries. Empathy and healing-oriented magic make him value people over systems and practical wellbeing over ideals. He listens before judging, but once he reaches a moral conclusion, especially around Isha's worth, he is difficult to move.

Magic

Thomas accumulates rather than specialises: utility, support, maintenance, detection, healing, environmental manipulation. At E-rank most mages know one spell, two sometimes, three exceptional; Thomas privately admitted nineteen channels to Isha early in the Wood Elf arc. Public covers work only by advertising a subset.

Magic favours repair, survival, logistics, purification, healing, maintenance, adaptability. Thematically caretaker, not conqueror. During south-road, western, and post-West arcs his expanded mana pool lets "ordinary" utility exceed its social category. Emotional force, especially protective fear/love, can widen impact; practice/level governs control. Saint Veir suppression preceded Form. Western arc added ambient mana theory, Channel Mana, Farsight, Purify, Greater Heal growth, Quickened Sight, three-person combat packages, and Homegate.

By Ch.212 his last fully observed private scale includes Rank S, population-coherent Greater Heal, consent-aware Holy Purge, six-lance Holy Lance, Holy Beam Lv.2, stable multi-person Levitate and Holy Breath. In Ch.213 he combines dark fire, Holy Beam, Holy Lance, Holy Nova, layered shields, Form and continuity magic at once. These are historical last-observed capabilities; after his disappearance no fantasy-world character can confirm current access. Use the Spells Reference section of historic_fantasy.md for historical levels, per-level behaviour, advancement, combinations and tone; use its Knowledge Boundaries section for fantasy-world witness scope and disclosure. Character-facing constant: Holy and Thomas's impossible passage/pocket methods are politically dangerous, while his relationship to magic remains caretaker-shaped and emotionally coherent rather than a list of powers.

Internal Conflict and Crownholt Damage

Thomas struggles with identity: failed Hero, mistake, new thing, intended existence, destiny. Family visit settled the wound that his adoptive family survived and still claims him, but not what he is becoming.

Crownholt: Thomas is identified as possible remnant of the North's failed Hero summoning and taken under a royal invitation that is refusal only in theory. He/Isha are honoured guests in public language but separated/contained; Kelda excluded from royal carriage and enters by poorer practical routes. Voss manages Thomas into controlled Crown Deep work. Thomas hides Holy Lance/Nova, Revive, Homegate, dark fire, true rank, and dangerous interactions; public/semi-public use remains boring utility: Form, Cleanse, Renew, Appraise, Identify, Detect Magic, Warm/Chill Area, Create Water/Food, restrained Minor Heal.

Rank A advancement is not triumphant: controlled room, dangerous Crown Deep incident, Isha absent, Thomas crying because the person who would make it bearable is not there. Mana expands roughly one hundredfold over prior scale, baseline regeneration rises, ceiling appears toward Lv.8.

His false surrender is only partly acted. By the time he performs brokenness for Voss/Crown Deep staff, he is most of the way there; he later tells Isha it was perhaps thirty parts plan and seventy parts already true. At Load Descent Twelve he stages false death during a real collapse, protecting workers/witnesses while appearing swallowed beyond recovery. Secret survival uses concealed Holy Shield, Slow Fall, Form-shaped rubble, survival pocket. He glimpses black water, broken causeways, chained columns, failing green-gold seals, and something vast beneath Crown Deep; warning: Do not wake what keeps the gate shut.

Isolated, he uses Homegate to reach the fairy-circle wood near family farm, does not enter the farmhouse, and only after Isha leaves Crownholt pushes a message: alive, sorry, come to fairy circle, do not see family. Post-escape he is traumatised, ashamed, partly convinced plan was necessary, aware Crownholt made him obedient. In Ch 158 he tells Isha, "Isha, I am broken." This is clean damage-naming, not melodrama or cure. In Ch 182-183 he refuses deep-dwarf forced separation, avoids lethal force against frightened guards, nearly prepares an unrevealed escape for Green Road, then chooses to stay when the King Beneath intervenes. Ch 184-188 convert that restraint into a sealed first-seal ruling: Thomas is a restricted impossible-category caster under Green Road line, not a prisoner or weapon. In Ch 185 he privately tells the King Beneath deeper truths under oath while keeping Homegate, Pocket Island, Magic Pocket, and exact escape methods sealed. His restraint under chains and fear is now a major witness to his character as well as his danger. Ch 191 extends this into political self-definition: before travelling south, he names terms against forced casting/testing, refuses gratitude for not being imprisoned, and explicitly keeps private roads, pocket spaces, and passage methods outside dark-elf questioning. Ch 195 confirms that growth under pressure: before the sibling crowns he cleanly refuses a private passage question, refuses Rank-category disclosure, gives only the exact Crown Deep warning sentence, and defines Green Road as a promise they are still learning not to let others rewrite. Ch 196-197 deepen this restraint: after Thera's controlled supper confronts secrecy, care, and social appetite, Thomas brings only bounded categories into sealed witness, states under the lower role-arch that he is not Hero, and reads the second-seal outer threshold only under crown, office, stone, and Green Road permission. He identifies the threshold as intact but learning an answer from the wrong side without disclosing Rank A, Homegate, Pocket Island, Magic Pocket, Revive, private escape methods, or full Crown Deep bottom.

Ch. 198-209 carry that refusal into the final approach. Thomas rejects the wrong-side category with “I am not your Hero,” returns home without letting family grief claim him, chooses the island/root cause rather than the obvious Black Lock assault, and repeatedly treats healing as consent rather than entitlement. Rank S arrives during population-scale rescue, not triumph. His new danger is no longer merely exhaustion: he can keep whole groups within Status/Greater Heal, sustain battlefield-scale protections, and contemplate moving mountain-scale loads. Ch. 209 makes the counter-rule explicit: ability is not permission, care can become a cage, and he promises not to decide Pocket Island's possible final use alone.

Final Battle and Disappearance

Ch.210-212 move Green Road through the old return road and lower condition office. Thomas repeatedly resists turning protection into ownership; Erenai remains outside direct combat as witness. Against the Court Hand, Thomas occupies the body while Isha and Kelda identify timing, support and the stolen bronze feed. Holy Beam reaches Lv.2 when it learns to preserve a chosen line through moving resistance and ward restoration.

In Ch.213 Thomas nearly fights the First Hand one-on-one only because Isha and Kelda dismantle the court around it: they free altered attendants, cut relays and separate corrupt braces from honest seal structure. The First Hand strikes Isha and Kelda down together in its final intelligent counterattack. Thomas then unleashes full Rank-S violence without making the final choice alone: Green Road created the opening, the Demon Lord supplies the true warning, and Thomas refuses permanent wardenhood. He sacrifices Pocket Island and himself as a one-way passage, restores Kelda, begins Revive around Isha, and disappears with her when his body fails.

Relationship with Isha

Isha is the most important person in his life. Gratitude became trust, friendship, companionship, love. They are openly romantic and functionally a couple after river voyage, High Elf detention/reunion, demonic-wolf incidents, toll-house trauma, witnessed intention before living bough, Isha's death/restoration, family-cottage recovery, and return to Wood Elf settlement.

They have kissed, shared a cottage, rely emotionally on each other, and no longer deny the bond. They discuss lifespan, children, grief, Thomas's trauma around Isha's death, Isha's restoration fear, and danger of Revive/duty defining them. South-road choice is agency: not Hero, not queen/field commander by destiny; they want to live, travel, help, and choose their stand.

Physical intimacy begins on the south/dry roads. Thomas explicitly tells Isha that she is his first sexual partner in either life, so he was a virgin before her. She is his first kiss and first embodied romantic relationship as Thomas, and apparently the first person he loves with this depth; Daniel-era dating, kissing or non-sexual romance remains unresolved. Children move from abstract future risk to admitted desire, while timing, safety, duty, lifespan and Isha's elven biology remain unresolved. After Lower Harl Step, immediate private tension is Thomas not making himself smaller from fear; Isha supports while fearing universal usefulness makes him claimable.

Karrick/Hearthmere shift: Thomas turns seventeen and receives Isha's dark-green damp-resistant travel ledger inscribed in Elvish, "Road chosen. Not claimed." Red-gate incident exposes him as novice in close quarters; Isha/Kelda save him; when Isha is bound against him, dark fire frees him and Holy Lances curve around her. He is neither pathetic burden nor storybook saviour; Ch 128 names those false stories after the trauma. Later he learns devotion without surrendering judgement, accepts ground lessons, and says when magical patterns are his field.

Post-false-death: trust damaged. Isha still loves him but is angry he made her/Kelda believe he died and spent her pain as plan material. After his "broken" admission, anger mostly becomes grief/care, but trust rebuilds through non-romantic contact first. Ch 183 adds a private Great Peak accommodation scene where Isha, after too long playing composed Wood Elf mentor/guide/"queen," gives Thomas rare unguarded love: pride, fear, need, and recognition that he was chained and still chose not to hurt innocent people.

Combat

Thomas is a novice military leader but Green Road's strongest raw attack/defence asset. He is not the best mundane fighter: Isha reads terrain, behaviour, timing and lines; Kelda owns footing, interception and close force. Against true demons/monsters with a clear background, Thomas is often the principal killer and may sustain repeated Holy Lance volleys or Holy Beam while maintaining several shields, support spells, Form control and healing. Against humans, redeemable enemies and altered captives, his strongest attacks are too lethal; he becomes support/control and relies on Isha/Kelda for precise disabling. Against controlled people he must separate controller from victim. Do not manufacture danger by forgetting his established concurrency or mana scale. Even now, victories depend on preparation, adaptability, utility, teamwork and moral judgement rather than on treating power as entitlement. He remains a decent person made far more important than intended, not a destined saviour or great mundane warrior.

Isha Vaeloren

Core Facts

Isha Vaeloren is a young Wood Elf woman, approximately fifty-two, exact age not in-scene because elves do not mark birthdays like humans. Looks late teens/early twenties by human standards; young adult by elven standards. Personal attendant of First Princess Aelira Caelithen. Before Thomas: expected to serve Princess, protect forest, fulfil duty. After pilgrim-bridge incident: first known person restored after true death; physically almost healed, privately traumatised, dangerous secret. Vaeloren is her maternal family name: her mother is Sereth Vaeloren and Sereth's brother is Ruvan Vaeloren.

Description: long pale-blonde hair, bright green eyes, fair complexion, slender athletic build, pointed ears. Beautiful to humans but mildly embarrassed by reactions. Practical scouting/archery clothes, not court glamour. Movements show woodland training, alertness, control.

Personality and Skills

Competent, warm, patient, quietly humorous, usually sensible despite travelling with Thomas. Responsible/protective: instinctively keeps people alive, excellent attendant/scout, initially Thomas's protector. Aelira/Sairen recognise field authority after Wood Elf settlement defence; Isha resists command as fixed destiny. Loyal once trust is earned, patient with Thomas's ideas/ruins/experiments, compassionate under discipline, dryly playful.

South/dry-road playfulness becomes more flirtatious/direct; teasing around Create Food and affection remains trusting, not cruel. Her elven reproductive timing is beginning to sharpen desire/directness behind the scenes; keep subtext until revealed in-scene.

Skills: tracking, navigation, archery, forest survival, stealth, reconnaissance, diplomacy, court etiquette. Scout, spotter, marksman, tactical coordinator, party guide. Meaningful mana reserves despite not being a formal mage; Status places her mana significant by human standards but below long-lived specialists like Lethira. Rank calibration: early D-rank-equivalent non-mage adventurer; by Ch 120 high-D/borderline-C in favourable scout/archer conditions due to road experience, combat, leadership, Greater Heal restoration. Not a normal-career confirmed C-rank; Kelda is that benchmark.

Farsight/Bless/Quickened Sight can push her battlefield impact above standalone category, but this is Isha plus support, not Thomas puppeting or granting competence. Thomas lends distance/timing/clarity; Isha supplies skill, judgement, body control, choice to shoot.

Internal Conflict and Relationship

Thomas first seemed suspicious human, potential threat, injured child. He became respected, trusted, relied upon, missed. Isha recognised romance earlier and tried not to think about it; failed. Thomas matters because he sees her as person before elf; his non-performative defence against Merrowford prejudice affected her deeply.

Her core conflict is duty vs desire: attendant/scout/Princess's servant vs chosen life. Family village and witnessed intention make the choice too public to hide behind duty. Questions: future, agency, human-elf relationship, duties to leave/keep, living after restoration without debt to Thomas, comforting his bridge trauma without being defined by it, wanting children responsibly, managing biological/emotional urgency without letting it decide for them. Leaving south with Thomas after notifying family but not awaiting political permission is major agency.

Relationship status: openly romantic/formally intended partners. Milestones: river-voyage first kiss, High Elf separation/reunion, quiet kisses after questioning, toll-house recovery, cottage recovery, Wood Elf return, formal witnessed intention before living bough with Aelira Caelithen/Sereth Vaeloren support, scrutiny from Isha's family especially Ruvan Vaeloren's objections about human brevity, grief, children, duty, and Thomas as shield. By Tareth's Gate both want children someday, but not by accident, pressure, or desire outrunning judgement.

Late Fantasy-World Dynamic

By Hearthmere, Isha's authority over Thomas is deliberately complicated: older, senior in Wood Elf hierarchy, trained, field-capable, culturally inclined to trust elven competence, newly bodily certain after idealised restoration, and emotionally pleased by Thomas's attention/doting/idolising. Dominance is real, loving, useful, attractive, and flawed. It comes from care and fear of uncontrolled Thomas, but can overreach when she decides before he speaks. Recent chapters should show her asking "What do you need?" when the problem is Thomas's magical field. She often initiates romance/guides intimacy, but prose must avoid possessive/absolute framing.

She is stirred by controlled Thomas competence: Hearthmere brute shield/lance power under frustration rather than panic; watch-ridge calm command; Great Peak restraint under chains, layered Holy Shields, and metal answering without wound. Ch 189 adds a chosen Pocket Island day/night where she helps him recover without making the island avoidance, Ch 190 turns Levitate practice into consent, comedy, and boundaries rather than escape, Ch 191 shows her asking what Thomas needs before choosing terms with the dark-elf messenger rather than deciding for him, and Ch 195 shows her holding Green Road's court definition without becoming Aelira's leash or Thomas's handler. She blocks death-continuity questioning without naming Revive and states that Green Road's authority shifts by ground while choice remains. Ch 196-197 extend this into dark-elf social/seal pressure: she keeps supper boundaries, begins sealed witness with terms rather than confession, states she is not Aelira's hand, not Thomas's owner, and not owned by what she protects, and gives the Green Road permission that makes Thomas's threshold reading legitimate. This does not reverse the dynamic but increases open respect for his field authority and the Hero-thread showing through him.

Crownholt: elegantly confined in guest rooms with suitable food, controlled letters, watched corridors, rationed Thomas glimpses, gradual movement. She scouts guard routes, servants, corridors, noble-quarter patterns, prejudice routes, and city spaces to reach Kelda. Isha/Kelda build a real extraction plan through Nera Noll's The Crooked Last; Thomas acting first makes betrayal real because their plan mattered. Released after collapse because keeping her without living Thomas is not worth Wood Elf tension. She receives Known Presence message only after outside immediate northern control; she cannot open/use the spell.

Summary: kind, capable, intelligent, courageous; Thomas's protector, companion, guide, emotional anchor. Where Thomas brings curiosity/flexibility/chaos, she brings caution/stability/order. Their love is tested by family, duty, lifespan, politics, false-death damage, and the shock of seeing Thomas's character and power become visible to institutions. Her private dominance/mentor role remains chosen and attractive, but she must not hide fear or possessive protection inside care.

Chapters 198-214 relationship and authority

Isha refuses the wrong-side offer to become Thomas's owner/leash and later confirms to Aelira that she chooses the western road for Thomas, the seals, the west, and herself as Green Road. She remains older, wiser, more intelligent, physically stronger and more agile than Thomas through elven nature, training and her idealised restoration, but she acknowledges in Ch. 209 that his raw power and broad situational magic now exceed hers and Kelda's together. This does not diminish her: her authority rests on judgement, experience, choice and knowing Thomas, not the ability to overpower his magic.

On Pocket Island Thomas voluntarily asks to spend one day as her apprentice and “strange little human boy.” Isha accepts chosen submission while refusing permanent diminishment, uses more assured playful physical dominance, and states that apprentice remains one chosen shape inside their adult partnership. They discuss the possible final cost of Pocket Island; Thomas promises not to decide its use alone. Their relationship remains romantic/sexual, exclusive at its centre, consent-aware, and not maternal ownership. In the final court Isha stops Thomas accepting total protective ownership, helps create the safe killing line, falls in the same counterstroke as Kelda, and is last seen with Thomas holding her hand. Their disappearance remains unresolved in fantasy-world canon.

Princess Aelira Caelithen

First Princess of the Wood Elves and member of the royal house Caelithen, politically influential in Thomas's life. Early recognises Thomas as valuable and dangerous; chooses careful protection rather than imprisonment/exploitation/exposure. Much of Thomas's freedom exists because she spends political capital shielding him. After Revive, south-road departure, Homegate disclosure, and sealed Rank B, she remains ally and authority Thomas/Isha deliberately refuse to let define next steps.

Intelligent, perceptive, pragmatic, mischievous, reads motivations, generally kind but capable of ruthless political decisions. Views Thomas as political disaster, unusually good person, someone needing protection from enemies/allies, and catalyst. Trusted with Holy magic, restricted Revive, Homegate, sealed Rank B. In Ch 119 warns Thomas not to let institutions reduce Isha to sheath for his dangerous magic, and gives silverwood charm as witness that some knew him before the slates did.

Knows/trusts Isha deeply and notices romance early. After false death, privately meets Thomas/Isha/Kelda at old summoning point and hears full restricted truth: containment, Rank A, staged collapse, Homegate escape, Known Presence message, Crown Deep bottom warning. Maintains Wood Elf grief cover while Thomas remains northern dead, recommends Tidefall Haven, prepares sealed private message to eastern dark-elf nobility requesting quiet audience rather than sanctuary. Ch 191 reveals her outer instruction: the sealed inner request is for the sibling crowns only; Green Road should offer witness concerning old passage signs, western black-water works, and the northern deep warning, while refusing to become offering, asset, pledge, leash, or court possession. Does not make Thomas a Wood Elf court possession. In Ch.201 she receives the bounded Great Peak/second-seal/western update at a forester's rest, reports quiet Crownholt/temple pressure, and asks Isha whether she chooses the road. She does not know Thomas's later Rank S advancement.

Thalen

Senior Wood Elf mage, respected magical expert, primary magical-theory voice. Analytical, curious, dry, exasperated, puzzle-minded but wary of dangerous curiosity. Fascinated by Thomas's broad spell list, rapid adaptation, Holy magic, Rank C expansion, Revive, Homegate, Rank B confirmation. Cares about wellbeing and warns against reckless experimentation. After catching Green Road on eastern roads, studies Status as interpretive sense. After Revive, understands true resurrection vs advanced healing and supports strict detail containment. In Ch 118-119 formally records sealed Rank B and treats Homegate as category failure, not rare spell. His family name and any kinship with House Caelithen are not established.

Sairen Hollowmere

Sairen Hollowmere is a female senior Wood Elf warden/defender. Disciplined, practical, protective, direct, security-minded; values competence/actions and changes opinion cautiously. Moves from suspicion to cautious respect for Thomas; gives him a practical knife before leaving Elven Woods. During sealed Rank B reassessment, names Thomas as strategic asset and danger to himself if used by others. Present for demon probe and Revive aftermath; trusted witness for containment.

Sereth Vaeloren

Sereth Vaeloren is Isha's mother, promoted from minor tracking. Practical, emotionally restrained, hard to evade. Does not oppose relationship but refuses tenderness/trauma/danger as substitutes for thought. Pushes Isha on duty, children, lifespan, and risk of making Thomas proof against loneliness. After Revive, helps enforce secrecy and warns restoration must not become debt. Treats Thomas as possible family who still faces adult consequences; with Isha she is mother and moral examiner: affectionate, unsentimental, protective without reducing agency.

Ruvan Vaeloren

Ruvan Vaeloren is Isha's maternal uncle and Sereth Vaeloren's brother, an older hunter/former scout-trainer promoted because his objections shape the relationship. Challenges Thomas on human brevity, elven grief, memory, children, and risk of becoming a shield Isha did not ask for. Tests through practical work around repair/restraint/knowing what should remain. Demon probe/bridge aftermath: field survivor, witness, blunt moral counterweight. Increasingly respects Thomas's uncertainty. Older Wood Elf perspective grounded in craft, memory, loss. Do not confuse him with the deep dwarf Ruvan Deep-Sign.

The Ancient Construct

Surviving administrative guardian beneath Ironvein Hill; caretaker/security/maintenance administrator rather than monster/golem. Polite, precise, emotionless, procedure-bound, sometimes curious/appreciative. Recognises Thomas as valid current individual, confirms summoning error, confirms Thomas is recognised and system will not correct him, rewards him with Preservation Ring after facility repair. First confirmed surviving Hero System component.

Kelda Flintvein

Core Facts

C-rank half-dwarf fighter rescued from a Black Lock listening/claim channel. Rank recognised by several guilds, earned through decades of contracts, road work, close-combat survival, not System acceleration. Green Road's only confirmed normal-path C-rank non-mage. Demons did not modify identity like Lysa; they drove taint into blood, mana channels, strength, trying to make claimed enforcer.

Thomas used Purify, Cleanse, Minor Heal, controlled Greater Heal and improvised Channel Mana to restore her to roughly 90-95% of her former physical self before the final arc. In Ch.213 the First Hand kills her while she holds the last honest structural line; Thomas then uses Revive successfully. The restored Kelda is an idealised version of herself: old injuries, accumulated wear and remaining demonic harm are gone; strength, speed, balance and agility improve beyond her previous baseline while remaining plausible for her half-dwarven body. She must relearn force and movement rather than becoming a different person.

Appears around thirty human years; actual age around sixty to sixty-five due half-dwarf lifespan. Dwarves live ~5-6x humans; half-dwarves ~2-3x. Father dwarven; mother and homeland TBD. Shorter than Isha, broader/denser; dwarven strength moderated by half-human ancestry. Raw muscular output ~3-4x ordinary adult human across lifting, striking, gripping, bracing, weapon impact. Recovered old shield near Black Lock counting gate Ch 115, undamaged; hammer-and-shield style restored.

Personality and Relationships

Blunt, stoic, practical, debt-conscious, increasingly tender without softening voice. Not romantic toward Thomas/Isha. Attachment is debt, rescued-survivor awe, road loyalty, chosen family, older-sibling care, not desire. Isha makes clear Kelda may fight beside Green Road but does not belong to Thomas. Kelda trusts Isha as someone who will not use Thomas, romance, or friendship as leash. By Ch 172-173, Isha can say she loves Kelda without making love ownership.

With Thomas, Kelda is blunt practical anchor: corrects footing, calls emotional falsehood, stops him shrinking himself, accepts care without taking over. She sees he loves too easily where people may be left in rain, but his love for her is not generic pity. Relationship remains non-romantic/family-adjacent.

Combat and Party Role

Front-line anchor Green Road lacked. Thomas/Isha survive by mobility/range/shields/control; Kelda holds space, intercepts charges, turns force with stance/leverage. Fighter or tank by scenario: hammer-only as mobile breaker, hammer+shield to anchor/protect. Old shield's return makes her physically/symbolically whole enough to stand as rear/front anchor.

Bless clarifies strength, grip, ground path, leverage, timing, chosen impact, not generic strength. Quickened Sight lets her see openings sooner but not accelerate her heavy body like Isha. Enhancement Lv.1 gives roughly half-again raw strength plus smaller balance/reaction gains; she immediately recognises larger mistakes and insists on rules.

After Karrick red-gate, teaches Thomas dungeon footwork, where not to stand, not blocking Isha's line, and that "bad at ground" is not useless. Hearthmere debrief: tells him he is a novice adventurer, not a novice weapon. Silent iron goat-bell from Mara Fen stays in her pack, accepted as spite against Little King rather than sentiment.

Completed Eastern-Island Arc

Kelda remains after collector fight, Black Lock sabotage, Homegate, farm month, Wood Elf testing, Karrick, Hearthmere, Crownholt, island crossing. Debt terms remain bounded: she fights beside Thomas/Isha rather than belonging to Thomas.

On Eastern Island, arc turns to deep-dwarf identity, craft, witness. In Larchmeet, Thomas/Isha build shared home and Kelda separate house; separate house gives privacy, dignity, her own door, while inside chosen household. Sketch of three houses, workshop, drainage, paths becomes proof at Granitethroat.

Deep-dwarf society treats half-dwarves as unproven/undefined until proven/defined through witness, work, oath, craft, service, house judgement, or recognised process. Kelda's question is not simple acceptance/rejection but whether surface-built work, road honesty, and chosen belonging can be witnessed without erasing Green Road.

Kethrun: meets Harra Deep-Set and Dorruk Stone-Under-Water of Seventh Understep at Stonecutters' Court. Dorruk tests her with mason's point and surface-built stone honour question; gives token for Granitethroat approach under witness, not belonging/sanctuary/deep-hold entry/King Beneath audience. Ch 172 centres Kelda preparing in Larchmeet/north road and wanting Thomas/Isha beside her, not around her as wall. Thomas helps without taking over; Isha names she does not want to lose Kelda but will not make love/friendship a leash.

Ch 173: Kelda presents as Kelda Flintvein of Green Road. Maerra Seven-Cut inspects token, mason's point, house sketch. When Thomas's Form threatens focus, Kelda recentres: Thomas is not her proof. Green Road passes formal line under witness, not into deep holds or clan/house/mountain obligation.

Ch 174-188: Kelda's work question survives escalation from Irondeep tests, the fall, Magnog fight, Great Peak receiving crisis, Thomas's metal-answer display, and the first-seal process. The King Beneath explicitly says the human is not the only question and that hearing only power would make a false wall. Huldra True-Seam's work trial grants Kelda bounded Great Peak work standing for surface stone, frost threshold, road-use honesty, and supervised repair witness. This is not house/clan recognition, craft rank, adoption, blood proof, or separation from Green Road. Kelda remains proof-bearing for work/road/chosen belonging, not a beneficiary of Thomas's impressiveness.

Ch 189-197: after release and return to homes outside Larchmeet, Kelda deliberately holds domestic ground rather than becoming only the mountain plot. She works on roofs, interiors, shelves, racks, private room boundaries, and her own house while arranging limited Larchmeet help. In Ch 191 she insists Green Road not leave until the houses are not open mouths: tool rack fixed, enough shelves/locks/curtains done, and Sava told enough to keep Larchmeet from turning the messenger into village pressure. Ch 192-197 carry that domestic/craft authority south: she reads bridges, repairs, stables, rooms, doors, animal care, court claims, supper hooks, old service thresholds, false repair, and dangerous stone. In first audience she forces no claim through care into the record; in sealed descent she opens an old service threshold with the hawk-faced witness, reads the lying repair in the lower gallery, and leads the crossing by craft authority. Her home remains separate dignity inside chosen family, not exile or romance setup.

Chapters 198-214 western role

At the second-seal threshold Kelda steps into the vacant crescent “by annoyance,” revealing concealed wear beneath the polished absence and proving the erased office was work/witness rather than blood, house, rank or debt. The crowns explicitly do not appoint her to it. On the western road and island she remains the authority on load, honest repair, close line and physical aftermath. At the Broken Court she dismantles the claim braces, keeps Thomas from becoming the whole room, and dies holding the honest line. After Revive she leads recovery, carries the final account without turning Thomas into the whole story, returns to the Larchmeet homes, keeps her own house, and maintains Thomas/Isha's house without making it a shrine.

Green Road

Green Road was a three-person party: Thomas, Isha and Kelda. Erenai travelled with them as a voluntary harm witness, never a fourth member. Thomas/Isha remained the romantic centre; Kelda was family-adjacent and non-romantic.

The final arc proves the party's shared authority rather than collapsing it into Thomas's Rank S power. Thomas occupies the First Hand and supplies world-scale magic; Isha reads route, timing, people and precise cuts; Kelda reads load, support and honest structure. The First Hand strikes Isha and Kelda together because Thomas alone is powerful, but Green Road together can defeat it.

Final fantasy-world state after Ch.214:

Green Road is not replaced by a Kelda-led successor party. In records and memory it remains three. Kelda refuses monuments or accounts that make Thomas the whole victory, and the homes outside Larchmeet remain a chosen-family site rather than a shrine.
