Working Location Registry

This generated table contains discrete point representatives from the GeoPackage locations layer. gis/world-map.gpkg is authoritative for these exact working coordinates and registry metadata; they remain drafting estimates rather than surveyed story canon. Longitude is relative to the Wood Elf settlement datum. Regional interpretation and canon reasoning remain hand-maintained below.

Regional Geographic Interpretation

Place or region Working geographic range Climate equivalent Confidence Canon basis and interpretation
Elven Woods Canon approximation 46-55 degrees N; about 1.4 degrees average width near 50 degrees N ~45-55 degrees N Medium A 1000 km north-south forest spans about nine latitude degrees. Its exact east/west split around the settlement remains unknown. The current pressure-shaped GIS polygon is a provisional drawing aid: it is locally wider and about 800 km north-south, and does not replace the canon-scale approximation.
Temperate central range / western coast ~45-55 degrees N; nominal 50 degrees N cross-section has range at -20.5 degrees and western coast at -26 degrees ~45-55 degrees N Low-medium The nominal cross-section is about 400 km coast-to-range and about 1600 km range-to-east-coast. Do not extend these longitudes unchanged into the taper.
Merrowford / family farm / Wood Elf contact region ~50-51 degrees N ~48-54 degrees N Medium-high Registry separations are about 43 km settlement-to-Merrowford, 68 km Merrowford-to-farm, and 111 km settlement-to-farm, within the two-, three-, and five-day route envelopes.
Harn's Ford / Lowmere ~49-50.3 degrees N; longitude unresolved ~42-48 degrees N Medium-low The route moves broadly south into warmer damp lowlands. The registry points are about 151 km apart against roughly seven forward travel days plus a stop.
Werrin's Cross / Cotham Dry ~47.8-48.6 degrees N; longitude unresolved ~36-43 degrees N Medium-low Registry legs are about 67 km Lowmere-to-Werrin and 45 km Werrin-to-Cotham, within three and two walking days. Increasing dryness reflects continentality and rain shadow as well as movement south.
Tareth's Gate ~46.8-47.4 degrees N; longitude unresolved ~31-37 degrees N Medium-low The registry point is about 100 km from Cotham, within five forward travel days. Its desert-fringe ecology is not evidence that it lies near 30 degrees geographic latitude.
Dry Roads / Black Glass Basin / Bracken Shade / Old East Line ~46.2-47.2 degrees N ~24-33 degrees N Medium-low The route continues broadly south-east/east. Old East Line is east of Bracken; severe heat and water law are climate evidence, not direct latitude measurements.
Kelrin Lock / Hest Quay / Marrowick / Lower Harl Step / Black Lock approaches ~45-48 degrees N; provisional westward sequence ~28-40 degrees N, locally cooler/wetter westward Low Kelrin is east of Old East Line; the Reedlark then travels west for weeks toward the foothills. Registry points put Hest-to-Mar at about 47 km and Mar-to-Lower at about 115 km, within two and six road days. Lower Harl is kept near the range because it is already a mountain threshold; its point is about 155 km from Black Lock, but that final figure remains schematic because the spill-road elapsed total is not explicit.
Karrick Gate ~51-52 degrees N; small positive longitude offset ~53-59 degrees N Medium The registry point is about 129 km north-east of the settlement, within the approximately six-day route.
Hearthmere ~51.6-52.0 degrees N ~59-64 degrees N Medium The registry point is about 12 km from Karrick, fitting departure around midday and arrival near dusk. Exposure, elevation and continental winter explain its tundra-edge character.
Rimeholt ~52-53 degrees N; slightly west of Karrick ~62-67 degrees N Medium Hearthmere is the longitude midpoint between Karrick and Rimeholt. The registry point is about 78 km from Hearthmere, fitting the narrated three-to-four-day journey.
Crownholt Geographic latitude unresolved north of Rimeholt ~63-68 degrees N Low Its point is deliberately provisional: 10-14 days by royal carriage and about three weeks by ordinary road do not establish relay speed or route curvature. It remains west of the tapering eastern coast.
Tidefall Haven ~50-51 degrees N; eastern coast ~+1.5 to +2.5 degrees ~48-55 degrees N Medium The registry point is about 141 km east of Aelira's contact-region representative, within the day-six approach to the sea.
Westhook ~50-51 degrees N; ~+13.5 to +15.5 degrees ~48-55 degrees N Medium-high Keep the GIS straight-line distance from Tidefall within a working 880-890 km range; the current points give about 884 km. Four days at the author-assumed five knots gives about 889 km.
Larchmeet / Kethrun highlands ~49.7-50.7 degrees N ~53-60 degrees N Medium Registry points put Westhook-to-Larchmeet at about 71 km and Larchmeet-to-Kethrun at about 47 km, within four and two walking days with route curvature, climbing and stops. Altitude explains the colder climate.
Granitethroat / Irondeep / Great Peak mountain region ~50.2-51.3 degrees N ~58-68 degrees N Medium-low Registry points put Larchmeet-to-Granitethroat at about 48 km and Granitethroat-to-Irondeep at about 47 km. Great Peak is west and inward; its distance remains unresolved. Extreme altitude, not latitude, produces the severe mountain climate.
Eastern Island southern lowland and moor ~47.5-50 degrees N; south of the highlands ~43-51 degrees N Medium-low This is cool-temperate maritime lowland. Southward travel toward the dark-elf court is active after Ch. 191, but the capital's representative remains directional because no travelled route fixes its site or distance.

Temperate-Band Longitude Frame

This generated diagram uses the GIS representative points near 50 degrees N; it is not a claim that every latitude has the same coast or range longitude. The broader ranges in the regional table and author assumptions remain the uncertainty envelope around these exact working points.

These are climate analogues, not a second geographic plot. The visited mainland route remains geographically compressed around 46-56 degrees N; aridity, exposure, continentality, rain shadow and altitude account for much of the larger climatic spread. The Eastern Island highlands and mountains are colder mainly through altitude.

Working XY Location Plot

This generated Mermaid quadrantChart uses the GIS locations and construction_points layers. The visible axes represent -27 to +19 degrees relative longitude and 45 to 68 degrees N; Mermaid internally requires values normalised to 0-1 by x = (longitude + 27) / 46 and y = (latitude - 45) / 23. The chart uses an approximately equal-distance display aspect ratio at 50 degrees N: the longitude span is about 3288 km and the latitude span about 2558 km, giving chartHeight / chartWidth ~= 0.78. It is not a true map projection, and east-west distance contracts farther north. Green points use explicit representative coordinates from the table. Orange points marked * are provisional macro frames or locations whose route geometry remains unresolved.

The taper frames are construction checks rather than coast canon: approximately 1800 km wide at Rimeholt's 52.4 degrees N plot (-25.8 to +0.8 degrees), 1410 km at 60 degrees N, 970 km at 64 degrees N, and 660 km at the 67.5 degrees N neck. This makes the narrowing gradual and puts the 500-800 km minimum well north of provisional Crownholt.

Building Existing stone-and-timber house MultiPolygon house; canon; medium Existing habitable pale-grey stone and dark-timber dwelling, recently vacated. The ground floor includes the broad-hearth front room, kitchen and entrance spaces; three rooms occupy the upper floor. Visible foundation, principal walls, accessible beams and floors show no major defect. The ageing south-west roof section requires proper replacement; several mortar areas and one timber sill need routine work. The chimney requires cleaning and checking before regular use; soot and tarry deposits, minor loose mortar and a low pot cause wind-dependent poor draw, with no major crack or collapse. Exact footprint is inferred.
Building Collapsed outbuilding footprint MultiPolygon ruined_outbuilding; canon; medium Approximate surviving stone footprint of an outbuilding which collapsed three winters before Ch. 428. Vale judged the footing potentially reusable after clearance. A private bathhouse is a proposed future use, not an existing building; rebuilding remains subject to work filing and drainage requirements, and direct stream discharge is expected to be refused. Exact dimensions are inferred.
Building Porridge's Lean-to MultiPolygon lean_to; canon; medium Pony shelter planned with the workshop cluster and maintained largely by Kelda; exact footprint and attachment to Thomas and Isha's house are author-drawn GIS approximations.
Linear site feature Merrowford palisade MultiLineString palisade; provisional alignment; canon; low A wooden palisade enclosing the older town is canon, and the present-day structure shows several ages of repair. The exact perimeter is an author-drawn GIS approximation. Six drawn gaps reserve possible road or gate connections but do not canonise six gates; local roads should connect through them when mapped. The regional Woods-to-farm route remains schematic and currently crosses solid palisade segments. Southern clearance from the river is provisional because both the regional centreline and representative 120 m local width are approximate; do not treat it as a surveyed bank or flood setback. Newer development may extend outside the old enclosure near the ferry road.
Linear site feature Green Road fence MultiLineString fence; provisional alignment; canon; medium A low timber fence loosely enclosing the immediate homestead is canon; exact perimeter, post spacing and practical openings remain author-drawn GIS approximations.
Linear site feature Old wall near eastern boundary MultiLineString old_boundary_wall; provisional alignment; canon; medium Visible low old-stone boundary near the eastern side is deliberately offset from the legal parcel line. The discrepancy is mapped and undisputed; exact wall alignment is provisional.
Transport way Larchmeet forest path MultiLineString footpath; walk; provisional alignment; author assumption; low Maintained gravel path providing principal village access towards the managed forest, mill and stream; exact alignment is an author-drawn GIS approximation.
Transport way Merrowford western approach MultiLineString road; mixed; provisional alignment; canon; low Local road through Merrowford's western gate, hedged approaches and outer fields. The road's existence and cart use are canon; its exact gate connection, alignment, surface and branches are provisional. It is distinct from the straight woods_to_farm regional POI connector.
Transport way South-road ford MultiLineString ford; mixed; provisional alignment; canon; low Recognised ford about half a mile downstream of the damaged footbridge; slow banks and bad footing. Exact crossing line is provisional.
Transport way Outer-holding public access track MultiLineString track; mixed; provisional alignment; canon; medium Established public cart track branching from Merrowford's western approach through mixed farmland towards the outer holding. It climbs gently; its final section is earth and gravel and becomes deeply rutted and unpleasant after prolonged rain. The 3 m width and exact junction and alignment are provisional.
Transport way Shared northern cart track MultiLineString track; mixed; provisional alignment; canon; medium Shared cart track along the holding's northern edge, carrying a recorded right of passage for the neighbouring holding. Wheel ruts continue towards that property, far enough from the house that carts do not pass beneath its windows. Exact alignment, surface and 3 m width are provisional.
Transport way Larchmeet upper footbridge MultiLineString footbridge; walk; provisional alignment; canon; medium Upper footbridge beyond Larchmeet's north fields; repaired before harvest-cart season, although normal cart use may concern the adjoining upper track rather than the bridge itself.

Transport way South-road damaged footbridge MultiLineString footbridge; mixed; provisional alignment; canon; low Three sound sleeper beams and wet-damaged planks; made temporarily passable for single-file people and a led pony, not carts. Exact alignment is provisional.
Transport way Internal entrance lane MultiLineString entrance_lane; mixed; provisional alignment; canon; medium-low Private cart-width entrance lane turning from the public track between an old hedge and a line of trees. It is grassed through the centre; the house stands back beneath mature trees and is not immediately visible from the entrance. The 2.5 m width and exact alignment are provisional. This lane is distinct from the shared northern cart track.
Site area Ian and Lethira's western freeholding MultiPolygon property_parcel; owned; provisional extent; canon; medium-low Canon western freeholding jointly owned by Lethira Dawnleaf and Ian Kirk in equal interest. It is placed approximately 3.35 km along the mapped Merrowford western approach. Prose establishes wooded ground, an old entrance tree and boundary markers, but not a surveyed vegetation boundary.
Site area Lower mature tree zone MultiPolygon wooded_strip; provisional extent; canon; medium-low Indicative mature-tree zone toward the lower ground. Canon includes two mature alders stabilising the stream bank and cutting restrictions on bank-stabilising trees; individual tree positions and this zone's exact extent remain unresolved.
Site area Archery practice envelope MultiPolygon practice_area; provisional extent; author assumption; medium-low Indicative clear envelope around a possible practice line. It is not an established, legal or fenced range; final use depends on boundary, backstop and path checks.
Site area Old kitchen garden MultiPolygon kitchen_garden; provisional extent; canon; medium Existing old kitchen garden behind the house, partly reverted to grass and weeds. Its existence and relationship to the house are canon; exact extent is provisional.
Site area House yard MultiPolygon yard; provisional extent; author assumption; low Indicative immediate domestic working space around the house. A yard-like setting is plausible from the described entrances and outbuildings but its drawn extent is not directly established by prose.
Site line Private archery practice line MultiLineString archery_line; provisional alignment; author assumption; medium Working centreline for a possible private archery practice direction. No permanent range is canon; final use depends on later boundary, backstop and path checks.
Site line Rising-ground backstop MultiLineString natural_backstop; provisional alignment; canon; medium Provisional alignment representing the canon rising ground which Lethira judged potentially suitable as a safe natural backstop.
Site point Representative mature tree 1 Point mature_tree; representative placement; author assumption; low Representative placement only. Prose establishes mature trees across the holding but does not establish this as an individually surveyed tree.
Site point Representative mature tree 2 Point mature_tree; representative placement; author assumption; low Representative placement only. Prose establishes mature trees across the holding but does not establish this as an individually surveyed tree.

Author Assumptions

These are author-supplied map premises. They are fixed for map construction even where chapter prose does not establish them, but should not be presented elsewhere as prose-derived canon unless they are migrated into an owning canon file.

Main Travel Sequence

Stronger Travel Anchors

Elapsed days are stronger evidence for route order and order-of-magnitude separation than for kilometres. Stops, road quality, weather, a mule train, and carriage relays make the different legs unsuitable for conversion with one universal speed.

What Is Still Outstanding

These are the main gaps that still block a more faithful final fantasy map. A targeted prose re-check of the route-bearing chapters narrowed several distances above but did not supply the remaining macro geometry.
